Job Description
About the role We are seeking a qualified capital/finance professional to lead the capital and control workstream for new regulated insurance entities established by the Group — including DFSA, Cayman and Lloyd’s structures. The primary focus of the role is on new entity establishment: defining the capital structure, building the financial control framework, and establishing the regulatory reporting infrastructure from inception. Once entities are operational, you will support their ongoing financial and regulatory requirements as needed, alongside supporting existing entities and reinsurance programmes where required. You will also supervise a junior analyst. This is a build-focused role for someone comfortable standing things up from scratch, not just running steady-state reporting. Key responsibilities Lead the financial establishment of new regulated entities (DFSA, Cayman, Lloyd’s and others) — defining the opening balance sheet, capital structure and financial control framework from inception, and ensuring each entity is correctly capitalised and controlled before it writes business. Build capital adequacy and solvency models for each new entity to meet the requirements of the relevant regulator; maintain and update these models as the entity grows. Establish the regulatory reporting framework for each new jurisdiction (e.g. DFSA, Cayman, Lloyd’s), including designing the reporting pack, setting the reporting calendar and producing the first returns; hand over to ongoing support once embedded. Build the financial model for each new entity — three-statement model and entity-level profit and loss — establishing the management reporting suite from which ongoing reporting will run. Establish the reinsurance programme accounting structure for new entities (quota share, excess of loss, ceding commission), ensuring the accounting treatment and control framework are correctly set up from inception; support existing programmes as required. Produce the first monthly management accounts and entity-level reporting pack for each new entity, establishing the format, commentary structure and distribution; support the ongoing production of these for existing entities as required. Reconcile intercompany balances and positions across group entities. Manage the Group’s Funds at Lloyd’s (FAL) position for the Syndicate in a Box (SIAB) — providing feeds to C&C’s selected managing agent for completion of the annual capital setting process (ECM/SBF cycle), optimising FAL composition across cash, LOCs and approved investments, responding to Lloyd’s capital calls, and maintaining the FAL headroom analysis relative to the approved capital requirement. Run capital adequacy stress testing and scenario analysis across the Group’s regulated entities — including shock loss, premium volume growth and FX sensitivity — to assess headroom above SCR/MCR thresholds and inform capital deployment decisions. Manage collateral arrangements supporting the Group’s reinsurance programmes — including letters of credit, trust accounts and cash deposits — ensuring collateral is correctly sized, documented and renewed in line with programme terms and regulatory requirements. Own the capital waterfall and inter-entity funding mechanics — managing dividend upstream, shareholder loan repayment and capital repatriation between regulated entities and the parent, and ensuring all movements are within approved limits and correctly documented. Track and report reinsurance counterparty credit exposure across the Group’s programmes, maintaining the counterparty register and flagging rating changes, concentration risk or collateral shortfalls. Produce the board-level capital reporting pack — including capital dashboard, solvency headroom by entity, FAL position and stress test outcomes — on a quarterly basis or as required by the board or managing agent. Support existing entities and reinsurance programmes as required, including covering financial control, reporting or capital queries where capacity or expertise is needed. Supervise and direct the Capital & Structuring Analyst on day-to-day work.
Skills
Qualified or finalist accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent). Experience with capital adequacy and solvency reporting, regulatory returns, and capital stress testing within an insurance or reinsurance context; familiarity with SCR/MCR frameworks across more than one jurisdiction is an advantage. Hands-on financial modelling experience, ideally within insurance or reinsurance. Understanding of reinsurance accounting (quota share, excess of loss, ceding commission) and collateral management arrangements (letters of credit, trust accounts) supporting reinsurance programmes. Demonstrable experience setting up the financial and reporting infrastructure for regulated entities in one or more of: DFSA/DIFC, Cayman Islands, Lloyd’s of London. Familiarity with Lloyd’s capital processes — including FAL management, the ECM/SBF annual cycle and Syndicate in a Box (SIAB) structures — is a strong advantage. Experience across more than one jurisdiction is preferred. Strong accounting software skills (Xero) and advanced Excel / modelling ability. Comfortable working independently
