Job Description
Job Summary We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to build and deploy applications end to end, using AI coding tools as a core part of the daily workflow rather than an occasional aid. The role covers hands-on development, deployment automation, and defining the specifications and standards that keep AI-assisted work consistent and reliable across projects. The ideal candidate is someone who already builds software faster and better by working closely with AI tools, and who can help set the standards and templates other engineers on the team follow. Key Responsibilities Design the Practice Define specification formats, API contract standards, and project templates used as the starting point for new builds. Establish coding standards, engineering-context files, and AI-usage guidelines that keep AI-assisted output consistent and safe across projects. Determine where AI tools are used in the workflow (implementation, testing, documentation, review) and where manual review is required. Build the Reference Implementation Design and build full-stack applications end to end, applying established specifications, standards, and pipeline as the reference implementation. Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release strategy as a reusable capability across projects, not a one-off setup per project. Deploy applications to cloud and containerised environments and monitor performance after release. Roll Out & Support Adoption Onboard other engineers and teams onto established workflows, including walkthroughs and support during initial adoption. Review code from teams following the practice, including AI-generated code, applying consistent quality standards. Incorporate delivery outcomes and feedback from adopting teams to refine templates, guidelines, and pipelines on an ongoing basis.
Skills
3–6 years of hands-on experience building and shipping full-stack applications in production. Strong hands-on experience with React.js or Angular on the frontend, and Node.js and/or Python on the backend. Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, including working knowledge of Docker and at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Solid Git workflow discipline and experience working from written specifications rather than verbal requirements. Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases. Understanding of authentication mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth. AI Tools & Usage Hands-on, daily experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar tools for writing, reviewing, and debugging code. Working knowledge of more than one AI tool or model, and the judgment to choose the right one for a given task rather than defaulting to a single tool. Practical experience using AI tools beyond code generation - for testing, documentation, code review, and troubleshooting. Ability to write clear, effective prompts and instructions to get accurate, usable output from AI tools, and to catch and correct AI mistakes. A genuine, active interest in keeping up with new AI tools, models, and techniques as they evolve. Communication Strong written and spoken communication skills in English Strong interpretation skills: the ability to read a specification, ticket, or instruction carefully and understand exactly what is being asked, asking clarifying questions when something is unclear. Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and AI-assisted work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Skills Experience designing or documenting an engineering workflow, standard, or template adopted by other engineers or teams. Experience with TypeScript across frontend and backend. Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration beyond basic Docker usage. Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, serverless, or event-driven architectures. Familiarity with observability tooling such as Sentry, Prometheus, or Grafana. Experience mentoring developers within Agile teams. Run regular team retrospectives and turn recurring issues into concrete process improvements. Represent QA in sprint planning, backlog grooming, design reviews, and release meetings. Flag resourcing, tooling, or skills gaps to your manager early, backed by data (defect trends, coverage gaps, missed SLAs). Set the team's day-to-day rhythm: sprint-level test planning, defect triage, and monthly quality reporting. Quality Process Ownership Own the end-to-end test planning process: requirements review, test strategy, test case design, test data preparation, execution, defect logging, retest, and sign-off. Make sure QA is involved from the start of each sprint — test coverage should be planned before development begins, not bolted on afterward. Keep core QA deliverables current every sprint: test plans, test cases mapped to acceptance criteria, test data, the regression suite, the defect log, and a release readiness summary. Run the required test types every sprint — functional and regression testing as standard, smoke testing after every deployment, integration testing for API changes, and performance/security testing for major releases. Jointly own the Definition of Done with the development team — a story doesn't move forward until both development and QA have signed off. Maintain a clean, well-documented defect lifecycle — clear titles, severity ratings, reproduction steps, expected vs. actual behaviour, and environment details on every ticket. Enforce defect response times based on severity, escalating critical issues immediately and routine ones on a predictable cadence. Make sure nothing gets closed without being properly retested, and that visual or design-related issues get sign-off from the design team before being dismissed. AI-Assisted Development Quality Checks Own the extra QA steps required whenever AI tools have been used in development — reviewing security scan results, checking that AI-referenced code libraries and functions are real and behave as expected, running full regression on any AI-touched code, and confirming any resulting technical debt gets logged. Apply the team's internal quality marker to any AI-assisted work once QA has signed off — this is what confirms the work is ready to move forward. Make sure the team never enters proprietary code, client data, or credentials into any AI tool. Release & Cross-Functional Coordination Sign off on release readiness, confirming all planned work has cleared testing and no serious defects remain open. Provide QA's security validation as part of the pre-release security review. Confirm regression results and coverage targets are met before a release is cleared for the next stage. Work closely with DevOps on any post-release issues, including confirming environment stability and supporting rollback decisions if something goes wrong. Act as QA's point of contact for the design team on visual or UX-related defects, and respond quickly when a design question needs QA input. Coordinate with Business Analysts on preparing acceptance testing scenarios. Report on team and quality metrics to your manager on a regular cadence. What We're Looking For Leadership & People Skills Proven experience managing and developing a QA team (8+ people), including performance conversations. Confident stakeholder management — you're comfortable representing QA to Product, Engineering, DevOps, and senior leadership. Process Discipline Experience building or running a structured, repeatable QA process — not ad hoc testing.
